The Union Fire Company boasts a
proud history of over 215 years. The Company was organized
in 1789 and later became incorporated by a special act
of Pennsylvania legislature in 1840. It still operates
today under the same name and charter as when the Company
was established.
The Union Fire Company is located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania
- about twenty miles southwest of the state capital of
Harrisburg. The Company provides service to the Borough
of Carlisle, South Middleton Township, North Middleton
Township, Middlesex, Dickinson Township, and other nearby
areas.
The Union Fire Company has a total coverage area to about
eighty-five square miles and serves a total population
of about fifty thousand people. These areas include urban,
rural, and industrial developments along with major interstate
highways and warehouses.
The Union Fire Company is a volunteer fire department,
answering approximately nine hundred alarms a year with
one paid driver on duty twenty-four hours each day. The
Company is the busiest fire station in Cumberland County.
The department operates two engines, one tanker, one brush
unit, and one utility truck. The Union Fire Company specializes
in engine company work. On average, the Company responds
to fifty "fully involved" or "working" fire alarms each
year.
The Officers and Members of the Union Fire Company would
