November - Billy G. is coming to town! The Carlisle Fire Department is hosting a Firefighter Safety and Survival Seminar on November 15, 2011 at Dickinson College. The instructor will be Billy Goldfeder. Contact any Carlisle Fire Station for details.

September 25 - The Union Fire Company and the Red Knights Motorcycle Club participated in a benefit ride for Blake Lawrence.

August 30 - About a dozen members traveled to Kane, PA for the Central District Volunteer Firemans Association Convention. An awards ceremony was held on Friday morning. Amy Myers was presented with the 2011 Robert E. Kerns Fire Prevention award. Union Fire Company won 5th place over all for its Fire Prevention program, including $50.00 and plaque. Rick Jacoby recieved a plaque upon returning the roving Kerns Award trophy from 2010. Scholarships awarded: Christine Otto $150.00; Karinda Lloyd $250.00; Brady Weaver $300.00; Kortnie Rugh $150.00.

April 24 - The Union Fire Company celebrated its 222nd Anniversary with an open house and memorial ceremony.

April 10 - Union Fire Company members attended the church services at the First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. This is an annual event that is held around the our aniversary (April 6th) in tribute to the organizers of our fire company. Numerous organizers were members of the First Presbyterian Church.

March 5 - The Union Fire Company was featured in Firehouse Magazine's first Combination Fire Department Run Survey, featuring statistics on apparatus fleets, budgets, membership, and 2010 fire and EMS calls.

February 5 - We will mark a record breaking fire company banquet if all show up that are signed up. We currently have 193 signed up to attend the annual awards banquet with several distingquished quests who have responded.

February 4 - New Utility Update: striping is almost done. It will be leaving Monday, February 7 to have the radio's and lighting installed by B. Moyer Communications. We hope to have it back by the end of the week. We have the training sheets and drivers test ready to go upon return. Our hopes are to have it in service by mid-February. We are still accepting bids on the old Utility. Please see the add on the link to the left for details.

January 26 - With the help of Steve Whistler and Brian Brenneman, we now have new can (recessed) lights in the dayroom on a dimmer switch. They also installed motion sensors for certain rows of lighting in the engine bay. This will help for night calls when the bay is dark; they automatically come on to provide safe maneuvering to don gear and board apparatus. There's a lot of positive buzz around the firehouse!

January 25 - February Training will focus on Arson Awareness for the Emergency Response Personnel by instructor Mike Rugh. It will be held February 15, 2011 at Station 45. Class begins at 18:30.
