| Engine 141 w/6 and Utility 41 were on the street and arrived within 2 minutes of the tones dropping. C145 arrived quickly with a working fire in a duplex and struck the second alarm with reported entrapment. Engine 141 arrived with our own water supply and split the crew to begin fire attack and searches for the victim. A total of four lines were placed in service off of Engine 141, two of them right after arrival. The second floor and attic were heavily involved in the apartment of origin as well as extension to the attic of the exposure. Unfortunately a victim was recovered in the apartment of origin and was unable to escape. The Carlisle Police Department and the PSP Fire Marshall are still investigating this incident for a cause of origin. Please follow the provided link where updates will be posted as they are available. This is the second fatal fire in a weeks span Company 41 was first arriving to. Incidents such as these are a grim reminder of how fast fire can spread. Carlisle Police Officers were on scene of this fire immediately with fire showing from the windows. The Fire Department arriving a very short time later with the fire conditions shown in the photos. Please ensure you have working smoke alarms in your home and that you test them throughout the year. Time is of the essence in today’s fire behavior. Our thoughts are with the victims family during their time of loss. https://crimewatch.net/us/pa/cumberland/carlisle-pd/5632/incidents/residential-structure-fire-update |
