| Units arrived with normal conditions and made entry via the Knox Box system. The crew encountered a large volume of smoke in the sanctuary and located a fire near the front stage. Engine 141s crew quickly knocked the fire down with a Class A extinguisher.
The investigation determined a staff member forgot to extinguish a candle on the stage. Over several hours the candle had melted down the front of the stage and burnt low enough it ignited a table, garland decoration and the carpet
While most fire alarms tend to be nuisance alarms not every fire alarm is a false alarm! A well equipped and prepared crew brought this incident under control in less than 5 minutes. Units remained on scene for around an hour investigating and ventilating the building. Company 41 had 10 members on scene.
